Tomato Pappu



Ingredients
  • 100 gms thoor dhal
  • 2 large tomatoes chopped
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 green chili slit
  • Tamarind a small piece
  • Chili powder –1/2 - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For tempering: A few cumin seeds, split urad dhal, red chili , curry leaves, and asafetida powder, a few cloves of garlic.
Directions
  • Pressure cook the thoor dhal along with the tomatoes, onions green chili. Add some chili powder , turmeric powder and tamarind to it and pressure cook till done. Add some salt and mix the dhal well. Now temper the ingredients in some oil and transfer it into the dhal. Goes well with steamed rice and chapatti.
