Ingredients
For Aadikoozh powder
Ulutham paruppu (black gram dal ): 1 cup
Raw rice : 4 tbsp
Paasi paruppu ( green gram dal ) : ¼ cup
For koozh
Aadikoozh powder : 1 cup
Jaggery : 1 cup
Ghee : 6 tbsp
Method
Aadikoozh powder
Heat a frying pan.
Fry Ulutham paruppu (black gram dal ) till red.
Fry Paasi paruppu ( green gram dal ).
Fry raw rice till it splutters.
Grind the fried items in a mixie.
A. Prepare syrup by adding 4 cups of water to jaggery.
When the syrup is cool, add the koozh powder and mix well.
Transfer this to a non stick pan.
Add ghee and stir well, without lumps.
When the contents are cooked add ghee and remove from the stove.
To test if it is cooked, dip a finger in oil and touch the koozh.
If it does not stick to the hand it is cooked.
B. Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed vessel.
Add koozh powder little by little and stir.
Mix jaggery in water and add to the powder and stir well.
Cook on a low flame.
Remove from the stove when cooked.
