Ingredients
Red gram dal : ½ kilo
Peppercorns : 250 gm
Cumin : 200 gm
Asafoetida : 100 gm
Dried red chilli : 300 gm
Coriander seeds : ¾ kilo
Turmeric Powder : 50 gm
Curry leaves : a bunch
Method
Heat a frying pan.
Fry asafoetida and set aside.
Add peppercorns, red gram dal, dried red chilli, coriander seeds, curry leaves, cumin and fry.
Grind these in a machine to a powder.
MIx this with turmeric powder and store.
This is the powder to prepare rasam.
To prepare 4 cups of tomato rasam we need 1½ tsp rasam powder.
