Raitha with Pomegranate

I make this if I buy pomegranate that turns out to be too sour to eat as it is.

Ingredients

2 cups home set curds (can also use Amul or others available in market but I prefer home made)

2 small or one large cucumber

1 large green chilli chopped into big pieces(can finely chop if u want it more hot)

1 medium sized onion

Salt to taste

Half a cup of pomegranate (removed from skin)

1 even tbsp chaat masala or freshly ground black pepper (optional)

2 tbsps finely chopped pacha kothamalli (green coriander or dhania leaf which I wash with Pot. Permanganate now after seeing it being grown near railway tracks. My doc friend says incidence of tape worm is increasing because of this.)

Method

Make raitha as usual by mixing finely chopped cucumber, onion and salt into the curds. Mix half of chopped green coriander, half of pomegranate and all of green chilli in it.

Adjust consistency, if necessary with some (boiled, cooled) water.

Sprinkle pepper and/or chaat masala on top.

Garnish on top with rest of coriander and pomegranate… gives an attractive red or pink, white and green look!!

In summer, chill for a while before serving.

By the way, this also tastes good if made with one sour green (Granny Smith) apple but chopped apple can’t be used as garnish and has to mixed in to keep it from turning brown.
