Pongal

PongalPongal is the harvest festival celebrated by Tamilans across the world. Pongal in Tamil means "boiling over or spill over". The act of boiling over of milk in the clay pot is considered to bring prosperity to the family. The four-day festival is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The tradition of boiling rice with milk and jaggery in pots and allowing it boil over the vessel brings the name to the festival.
