Gudi Padwa

Gudi PadwaGudi Padwa is the advent of new year and is considered to be the most auspicious days for Maharashtrians. Erecting 'gudis' or a bamboo staff with a coloured silk cloth and garlanded goblet over it is a traditional practice followed by people of the state, symbolizing victory or achievement. A special preparation made of neem leaves, gram pulse and jaggery is distributed.
