Curryvaepillai - curry leaves
Ingredients
Curry leaves : 4 cup
Bengal gram dal : 50 gm
Dried red chilli : 10
Tamarind : a small ball
Cumin : 1tsp
Saunf ( aniseed / fennel ) : 1tsp
Poppy seeds : 2 tsp
Grated coconut : 2 tsp
Mustard : ½ tsp
Black gram dal : 1tsp
Asafoetida : a little
Onion ( cut) : ½ cup
Garlic ( cut) : ¼ cup
Tomato ( big ) : 1
Gingelly oil : 7 tsp
Salt : as needed
Method
Soak tamarind in water and prepare extract.
Heat oil in a frying pan.
Add bengal gram dal, chilli, coconut, cumin, asafoetida, curry leaves, poppy seeds and fry.
Grind the fried items.
Heat oil in a frying pan.
Add mustard, black gram dal, asafoetida, onion, garlic, tomato and fry.
Add ground powder, tamarind extract and let it boil.
When the contents thicken, remove from the stove.
