Coconut Chutney
Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
Chana dal (porikadalai)- 2 tsp
green chillies - 5
garlic - 1
Tamarind - peanut size.
salt - to taste

Grind all the incredients in mixie adding litlle water. Heat a tsp of oil in pan fry mustard and urad dal with some curry leaves. Add to the ground chutney.
A good combination for dosai and idly.

Onion Chutney
Small onions - 20 or
big onion - 1
Garlic - 10
Red Chillies - 10
Urad dal - 1tsp
oil - 10 tsp
asfotida - 1 tsp
Tamarind - peanut size
salt - to taste.

Fry urad dal and red chillies in a dry pan.
add 1 tsp oil fry onions and garlic until golden brown.
Grind onions, garlic, urad dal, red cillies, tamarind in mixie.
Â
Heat rest of oil in a pan add mustard and urad dal and asotida. Pour the hot oil in the ground chutney.
It goes well with hot idlies.
