U Need : 2 big phophrets ( In California we can get indian fish in 99 Ranch market or any chineeze japaneez market ) , grated coconuts 1 small bowlfull , green chili ( u can use red dry chili too ) , fresh lots of coriender leaves ( Cilantro) jeera , onion chopped , garam masala half spoon.
Â
Take full phompret fish , clean it and cut it sideways with small knife but don't cut it fully you should have 2 seperate parts connected from one side ( half cut but still connected in middleways. )Â now put some lime jiuce on it and kept it aside.
Â
Â
Now first fry onions ,jeera, chilis, grated coconuts on pan for 5 minuts let it be golden brown. add garam masala & Â salt to taste. add coriander leaves as much as u want and shut the gas off. Let it be cool. now make a fine paste of this batter in a mixure and add some water to make fine paste. apply this paste inside ( inbetween ) the phomphret and seal it. ( u can seal it with tooothpicks so batter won't come out. apply some batter on the fish also and fry ( or if u are calorie concious roast ) it until they become crisp.
Â
this dish is good to taste alone or with bhakari / chapati / or curd rice.
