Ingredients:-
Eggs 5 nos
Milk 500 ml
Sugar 150 gm
Sugar 100 gm [for caramel]
Nutmeg for taste
Method:-
1) Take a hard bottomed vessel and put the sugar and melt till it becomes caramel that is golden color. Generally for sugar to become caramel it takes less than one minute. Allow the vessel to cool.
2) Add the milk, egg and sugar in a separate vessel and stir till everything is dissolved and scrap the nutmeg over the liquid just for taste.
3) Now for the cooking part, this is done by streaming. Pour the liquid in the vessel with the caramel. Cover it with butter paper and stream it like cooking rice cakes. Make sure there is enough water for the custard to cook.
4) After 15 to 20 minutes take the vessel out and remove the butter paper and allow the custard to cool. After sometime put in the fridge to cool and then demold the custard. Now you will get this beautiful golden colored caramel custard. Garnish with cherries.
PS: Caramel can be made and poured in small dishes so that we can get small portions of custard each. Sugar in the mixture can be added for one’s taste. It can be stored for one or two days under refrigeration.
